I knew exactly what kind of winter scene I wanted. It had to include a snow-covered cottage and pine trees, a winding lane, and singing birds. More than that, it needed to show all of nature celebrating the Savior's birth. As I worked with the blue sky fabric, I kept seeing the word "Joy" in the swirls. And it fit. The heavens and nature are both singing praises in this quilt!
Joy to the World!
Do you see where I faintly stitched "Joy" around the sky?
I had such a great time stitching this wall hanging for one of you. If you'd like to have it, just leave a comment, send me an email, or let me know on Facebook. I'll enter you into the drawing which will be on Thanksgiving day.
Do you recognize the bluebird? That's Piccolo, from my Christmas give-away quilt two years ago, returning for an encore visit on this quilt. You could call him my signature blue bird! His friend red bird needs a name, too. Suggest a name for the red bird and I'll enter you to win a handmade Christmas ornament. Whichever name Tom chooses will be the winner of the ornament.
Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let Earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven and nature sing,

I love it!! Please enter me, maybe I will get lucky again this year. Nothing better than winning a quilt, except cornbread dressing. Not winning would be like Stove Top. Haha
Laura, you continue to surpass yourself. This is my favorite Christmas hanging yet! I especially love the touch of "Joy" that you added throughout the sky. :)
As for a name for the cardinal, what about Tremolo? Piccolo Should have a musical partner.
Count me in. I would love a Laura Lee original to show off in the upstate. How about Viola for the redbird.
This is your best effort yet...SO BEAUTIFUL :) Could be a cabin in the snow covered CO mountains...except that we don't have the wonderful redbirds here!
Love, Debbie
Still thinking about a good name for the little birdie...
Reminds me of the snow we left behind in Buffalo! I'd be more than honored to be entered in this drawing! Also, I suggest the name Rossu for the cardinal. It's red in Corsican. Thanks for such a great opportunity!
I choose CRIMSON for the bird's name..."Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow". Jesus is the reason for the season :)
I would love to be entered in the drawing. I own literally zero Christmas decorations for my home. This would be so exciting to have in our home!
Your quilt is beautiful. I would love to be entered in the drawing.

Laura, please enter me in this giveaway too. I suggest Clara for the bird's name (clara short for clarinet...piccolo...get it?!?)
Thanks and have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Ok, I feel almost selfish asking to be included in this drawing, but I love this piece. It's my favorite by far of any you've given away.
The red bird's name should be Rossini (red=rosso in Italian.)
Happy Thanksgiving!
Diane
